The Warning
These adventures are genuinely dangerous things to attempt. This document and our web site are written in a light-hearted fashion, however you cannot underestimate the risks involved in undertaking this kind of adventure. On similar types of adventures, participants have been seriously injured and killed. These adventures are not a glorified holiday. They are an adventure and so by their very nature, high risk. If it all goes wrong, you really are on your own.
Anyone sensible would advise you to stay at home and arrange your socks in colour order.
The On Your Own Rule
You will be entirely responsible for yourself and the vehicle once you leave the starting line. When something goes wrong or you get yourself into difficulty, you’ll have to get yourself out of it - there is absolutely no support or back-up from us once you hit the road. Our collaberative IT tracking and communication systems will help you locate fellow explorers and provide updates on location and status to friends and family, however no one from Charity Explorers will leap to the rescue when you get stuck.
The Buddy System
As we will not be providing any support once you are on the road, we suggest you travel between waypoints in groups of two or three vehicles, in order to assist each other when (not if) you get into trouble.
Tolls & Bribes
You will be responsible for all road tolls, border taxes and bribes. It is very unlikely that you will get from start to finish without being asked to oil the palms of an army of minor beurocrats and officials.
Accommodation
You could always sleep in your vehicle, although it might be somewhat cramped. Alternatively you might like to take a tent, or sleep in any variety of Hotels, Guest Houses or Hostels… you’re paying for it, so it’s your choice.
Vehicle Security Deposit
Your vehicle will be brand new when you collect it at the start of your adventure and therefore will be in a good and serviceable condition. As such a vehicle security deposit of £500.00 is due 30 days prior to the commencement of your expedition. In the event that you do not make it to the finishing line, this security deposit will be forfeited. If your vehicle requires substantial repairs in order for us to sell it, the cost of said repairs will be taken from your security deposit. All security deposits will be returned within 30 days of completion of the adventure.
Vehicle Repairs
This will depend on your mechanical know-how, how many spares you carry or how good your are at persauding the locals to help you. Repairing the vehicle and getting it to the finishing line is your responsibility. You will be provided with a brand new vehicle, however it is almost certain that it will break down at somepoint. As such it is your responsibility and cost to repair it.
Refunds
No refunds will be issued once your registration has been accepted, other than In the unlikely event of Charity Explorers cancelling an expedition before departure, in which instance all Registration & Vehicle fees paid to Charity Explores will be refunded in full or an alternate expedition will be offered. This will be the full extent of Charity Explorers liability.
No Shows & Abandonment
Where a client does not pick up his / her vehicle at the date and time confirmed on the reservation, Charity Explorers reserves the right to re-use the vehicle.
Where a client abandons a vehicle before the finishing line, Charity Explorers reserve the right (as legal owners) to recover and sell the vehicle. All proceeds will be donated to charity.
Disclosure
Charity Explorers agrees to provide 30 days written notice, or other such notice, of any major changes as set out in these Terms and Conditions.

If you are prevented from travelling on the tour, you may transfer your booking to another person provided they meet all the requirements relating to that tour. A transfer from one person to another is also dependent on the availability of space; permits and other travel arrangement, as some of these are regulated by local law and are not transferable from one person to another. A transfer fee of £100 may be payable. Both the person who was originally to take the Adventure and the person who actually takes it will be responsible for the payment of the amendment charges and any outstanding balance due in respect of the Adventure price and you will also be responsible for any additional costs that are incurred as a reason of substitution or transfer.

Insurance
Clients should purchase travel insurance no later than at the time the Registration Fee is due in order to cover themselves for their own cancellation or curtailment of their travel plans. It is the client's responsibility to arrange suitable adventure travel insurance with benefits that include cover for any hazardous activities they intend to pursue, as well as personal accident, medical expenses, repatriation and loss and damage to personal effects. The policy should include minimum cover of £500,000 for emergency medical and repatriation expenses.
Your Tour or Expedition
The client undertakes to comply with the laws and regulations, whether in respect of health, immigration, currency exchange control or any other matter of all the countries visited during the expedition.
The client undertakes to obtain a valid passport and have enough blank pages in the passport for the trip along with a valid International Driving Permit.
Charity Explorers accepts no responsibility for matters arising out of political disputes, border closures, epidemics, natural disasters, climate, armed robbery, terrorism etc. Should it become necessary to abandon an expedition because of such an event Charity Explorers will be entitled to retain such monies received as is necessary to cover costs incurred..
The client accepts that owing to the nature of countries visited, all expeditions involve an element of personal risk and are of a potentially hazardous and unpredictable nature. In many countries visited the basic infrastructure, such as roads, are very poor and therefore less safe than that familiar to people from many western counties. In particular, lack of road markings or warning signs, unmarked speed bumps, seasonal flooding of roads and bridges, local vehicles which are poorly maintained and driven and which are hazardous to other road users etc. are factors beyond the control of Charity Explorers. The client accepts that in some areas they will have to drive 'off road', and that this involves personal risk.
The client accepts that local emergency facilities are usually of a very limited nature. Hospitals outside of large cities often have no accident and emergency facilities and emergency transport facilities can be non-existent.
In the event of any person leaving the expedition of their own accord before achieving the finishing line, that person will be liable for their own repatriation and expenses and have no claim against Charity Explorers whatsoever.
All Charity Explorers tours and expeditions, involve a risk of injury, psychological trauma, disease, loss or damage to property, inconvenience and discomfort. By accepting these terms and conditions you agree to assume all risks associated with the journey to the maximum extent permitted by law.
